1982年，来自意大利的争议导演威尔森?韦勒?科凯恩发行了他唯一的作品《红色之山》。电影因为存在许多残酷虐待的镜头而很快撤线，所有的拷贝从此消失，导演及剧组人员也杳无音讯。许多年间，全球各地的电影历史学家尝试找出这部传奇作品，但是现存于世的只有一部残忍的预告片。20年后，超级影迷泰勒（泰德?希尔根布林克TadHilgenbrink饰）对传说中的《红色之山》甚为着迷，他千方百计寻找关于这部影片的一切线索，当他得知科凯恩唯一的女儿艾丽莎（苏菲?芒克SophieMonk饰）就住在附近时，于是决定启程前往一探究竟。此时的艾丽莎已成为脱衣舞女，他丝毫不理会泰勒的请求。执著近乎疯狂的泰勒为了拍摄关于《红色之山》的记录片，不惜对艾丽莎进行绑架。他的努力得到回报，却也由此开启一扇通往恐怖地狱的大门……
