八公（Forest饰）是一条谜一样的犬,由于不人晓得它从那里来。传授帕克（理查·基尔RichardGere饰）在小镇的火车站拣到一只走掉的小狗,冥冥中好像注定小狗跟帕克传授有着某种缘分,帕克一抱起这只小狗就再也放不上去,终极,帕克对小狗八公的心疼感召了后来竭力支持养狗的老婆卡特（琼·艾伦JoanAllen饰）。八公在帕克的庇护下渐渐长大,帕克下班时八公会始终把他送到车站,放工时八公也会早早便爬在车站等待,八公的忠实让小镇的人家对它愈加心疼。有一天,八公在帕克要下班时表示异常,竟然玩起了以往素来不会的捡球游戏,八公的表示让帕克异常满足,但是就是在那天,帕克因病逝世。帕克的老婆!女儿安迪（萨拉·罗默尔SarahRoemer饰）及半子迈克尔（罗比·萨布莱特RobbieSublett饰）怀着无比沉痛的心境安葬了帕克,但是不明就里的八公却仍然天天薄暮五点定时等待在小站的门前,等待着主人返来……本片依据上个世纪30年月产生在岛国日本的实在故事改编,1987年在岛国日本拍成片子后发明白40亿日元的票房。
